  1. I remember the bells from 1965 till I moved to Acklam in 1970. I never hear bell like that anymore, all the churches seem to have 1 bell nowadays. I’d love to hear the bells again like I did when I was a child. How many bells are there?

    • There are 8 bells at St Cuthbert’s Ormesby. It is the only one in Middlesbrough with active bell ringers. There are several bell towers in Redcar and Cleveland, St Paul Thornaby and St Thomas in Stockton that have active bands of bell ringers.

  2. Before the parkway was built and most of the houses near the pied piper, there was nothing but corn fields, I spent many an hour playing among the bails of hay on lazy summer evenings, listening to the bells. It looks like I’ve missed the open day for the bell tower (in February) but I’ll be sure to catch the next one.
